Let Your Mouse Do The Shopping!

Unquestionably you have to mouse around the Internet to get the best deals. Clearly, just like in the brick and mortar world, the lowest price is not always the best deal. But in my case it was!

The other day I was snooping around the Internet to purchase Article Submitter so that I could reduce the time it has taken me submitting articles on the net.

So like many would do - I clicked Google search for Article Submitter and up popped a dozen or so choices to click on. The first site I clicked on brought up Magic Article Submitter – that’s not what I wanted to buy so I click on another Article Submitter and there it was.

Next I paged down the site and reviewed all the bonuses etc., with the usual claim “This Offer Is Limited.” I paged down a little further and found the asking price of $97.00

In the past I had received spam mail promoting Article Submitter for upwards of $197.00. The shopper in me said search around for a lower price and that is exactly what I did.

While searching, for the next 12 minutes, I had found three lower prices – $47.00, $14.00 and “Bingo” $9.75.

My skeptical mind log on to the one thought – is it fully functional at $9.95 and what is the hook? Having nothing to lose but a few pennies at $9.95 I clicked to purchase the product - paid for the product and downloaded it. And yes it is fully functional - no HOOKS – I have it up and running and it works fine!

Moral of the story: Mouse around on the Internet! A little time can save you a lot of money…

By-the-way – all promotional sites in each price range were similar in features and benefits - with exception to the free goodies and “Limited Time Offer”…

THE COMMON DENOMINATOR OF SUCCESS

Several years ago I was brought face to face with the very disturbing realization that I was trying to research and explain what it took to be a success in sales, without knowing myself what the secret of success really was. And that, naturally, made me realize that regardless of what other knowledge I might have brought to my job and to others, I was definitely lacking in the most important knowledge of all.

Of course, like most of us, I had been brought up on the belief that the secret of success is hard work, despite this; I had seen so many people who work hard and don't succeed and others who succeed without working hard. Because of this, I had become convinced that hard work was not the real secret, though in most cases it might be one of the requirements.
Given my background and training, I began trying to explain success by reviewing all relative research on such topics as motivation, behavior, performance and job satisfaction. Next, I set out on a voyage of discovery, which carried me through thousands of books, magazine and newspaper articles, biographies and autobiographies. I then conducted numerous empirical research studies in over a 20-year period.

After a time, theory, research results, and hearsay overwhelmed me. Then, one day as I was day dreaming, everything I had done came to focus. My mind focused on the realization that the secret I was trying to discover lay not only in what people did, but also in what made them do it.
I realized further that the secret for which I was searching must not only apply to every definition of success, but since it must apply to everyone to whom it is offered, it must also apply to everyone who had ever been successful. In short, I was looking for the common denominator of success.

But this common denominator of success is so big, so powerful, and so vitally important to your future and mine that I’m not going to review all of the writings and research, which have brought me to the common denominator of success. I’m just going to tell you.

The common denominator of success – the secret of success of every person who has ever been successful – lies in the fact that the person formed the habit of doing things that others don’t like to do. It’s just as true as it sounds and it’s just as simple as it seems. You can hold it up to the light, you can put it to the acid test, and you can kick it around until it’s worn out, but when you are all through with it, it will still be the common denominator of success, whether you like it or not.

It will explain why people have come into an organization with every apparent qualification for success and then given us our most disappointing failures. It explains why others have come in and achieved outstanding success in spite of many obvious and discouraging handicaps.
And since it will also explain your future, it would seem to be a mighty good idea for you to use it to determine just what sort of a future you are going to have. In other words, let’s take this big, all-embracing secret and boil it down to fit you.

If the secret of success lies in forming the habit of doing things that others don’t like to do, let’s start the boiling-down process by determining what are the things that others don’t like to do. The things that others don’t like to do are the very things that you and I and other human beings, including successful people, naturally don’t like to do. In other words, we’ve got to realize right from the start that success is something which is achieved by the minority of people and is therefore unnatural and is not achieved by following what we normally like and don't like, nor by being guided by natural preferences and prejudices.

The things that others don’t like to do, in general, are too many and too obvious for us to discuss here, and so, since our success is to be achieved in sale, let us move on to a discussion of the things that we as salespeople don’t like to do. Here too, the things we don’t like to do are too many to permit specific discussion, but they can all be disposed of by saying that they all come from one basic dislike peculiar to selling. We don’t like to contact people we think don’t want to see us, and we don't want to talk to others about something we don’t think they want to talk about. Any reluctance to follow a definite prospecting program, to use prepared sales talks, to organize time and to organize effort are all caused by this one basic dislike.

Perhaps you have wondered what is behind this peculiar lack of welcome on the part of our prospective buyers. Isn’t it due to the fact that our prospects are human too? And isn’t it true that average people are not always ready to buy and will want to escape our efforts to persuade them to do something they don’t want to do by striking at our most important weakness: namely, our desire to be appreciated?

Perhaps you have been discouraged by a feeling that you were born subject to certain dislikes peculiar to you, with which successful people in our business do not possess. Perhaps you have wondered why it is that our biggest producers seem to like to do things that you don’t like to do. They don’t! And I think this is the most encouraging statement I have ever offered to a group of salespeople.

But if they don’t like to do these things, then why do they do them? Because successful people do things they do not like to do, they are able to achieve their goals. They are not influenced by how they reach these goals, but rather by the results they can obtain. Successful people are influenced by the desire for pleasing results. Others are influenced by the desire for pleasing methods and are inclined to be satisfied with such results as can be obtained by doing things they like to do.

Purpose

Why are successful people able to do things they don’t like to do while others are not? Because successful people have a purpose strong enough to make them form the habit of doing things they don’t like to do.

When Top Sellers Slump

Sometimes even our best producers get into a slump. When a person goes into a slump, it simply means he/she has reached a point at which, for the time being, the things he/she doesn’t like to do have become more important than the reasons for doing them. And may I pause to suggest to you sales managers, general managers, and owners that when one of your good producers goes into a slump, the less you talk about production and the more you talk about "purpose," the sooner you will pull the person out of the slump.

It’s Not Enough

Many people with whom I have discussed this common denominator of success have said at this point, "But I have a family to support and I have to make a living for my family and myself. Isn’t that enough of a purpose?"

No it isn’t. It isn’t a sufficiently strong purpose to make you form the habit of doing the things you don’t like to do for the very simple reasons that it is easier to adjust ourselves to the hardships of a poor living than it is to adjust ourselves to the hardships of making a better one. If you doubt me, just think of all the things you are willing to go without in order to avoid doing the things you don’t like to do. All of which seems to prove that the strength, which holds you to your purpose, is not your own strength but the strength of the purpose itself.

Habit Is The Key

Now let’s see why habit belongs so importantly in this common denominator for success.
People are creatures of habit. Every single qualification for success is acquired through habit. People form habits and habits form futures. If you do not deliberately form good habits, then unconsciously you will form bad ones. You are the kind of person you are because you have formed the habit of being that kind of person. The only way you can change is through habit.

The success habits in selling are divided into four main groups:

1. Prospecting habits

2. Product knowledge habits

3. Selling habits

4. Working habits

Let’s discuss these habit groups in their order.

Any successful salesperson will tell you that it is easier to sell to people who don’t want it than it is to find people who do want it. If you have not deliberately formed the habit of prospecting for needs, regardless of wants, then unconsciously you have formed the habit of limiting your prospecting to people who want your product. This serves as the one and only real reason for a lack of prospects.

As to calling habits, unless you have deliberately formed the habit of calling on people who are able to buy but unwilling to listen, then unconsciously you have formed the habit of calling on people who are willing to listen but unable to buy.

As to selling habits, unless you have deliberately formed the habit of calling on prospects determined to make them see their reasons for buying, then unconsciously you have formed the habit of calling on prospects in a state of mind in which you are willing to let them make you see their reasons for not buying it.

As to working habits, if you will take care of the other three groups, the working habits will generally take care of themselves because under working habits are included study and preparation, organization of time and efforts, records, analyses etc. Certainly you’re not going to take the trouble to learn interest-arousing approaches and sales talks unless you’re going to use them. You’re not going to plan your day’s work when you know in your heart that you are not going to carry out your plans. And you’re certainly not going to keep an honest record of things you haven’t done or of results you haven’t achieved. For, if you are taking care of the first three groups, most working habits will take care of themselves and you’ll be able to afford an assistant to take care of the rest of them for you.

But before you decide to adopt these success habits, let me warn you of the importance of habit to your decision. I have attended many sales meetings and sales programs during the past 20 years and have often wondered why, in spite of the fact that there is so much good in them, so many people seem to get so little lasting good out of them. Perhaps you have attended sales meetings in the past and have determined to do things that would make you successful or more successful only to find your decision or determination warning at just the time when it should be put into effect or practice.

Here’s the answer. Any resolution or decision you make is simply a promise to yourself, which isn’t worth a nickel unless you have formed the habit of making and keeping that promise. And you won’t form the habit of making it and keeping it unless you link it with a definite purpose that can be accomplished by keeping it right at the beginning. In other words, any resolution or decision you make today has to be made again tomorrow, and the next day and the next, and so on. This decision not only has to be made each day, but it has to be kept each day, for if you miss one day in the making or the keeping of it, you have to go back and begin all over again. But if you continue the process of making it each morning and keeping it each day, you will finally wake up some morning a different person in a different world, and you will wonder what has happened to you and the world you used to live in.

You Have A Purpose

Here’s what has happened. Your resolution or decision has become a habit and you don’t have to make it on this particular morning. The reason you seem like a different person living in a different world is because you have, for the first time in your life, become master of yourself and your likes and dislikes. This is done by surrendering to your purpose in life. That is why behind every success there must be a "purpose," and that is what makes purpose so important to your future. For in the last analysis, your future is not going to depend on economic conditions or outside influences of circumstances over which you have no control. Your future is going to depend on your purpose in life. So let’s talk purpose.

What Is One’s purpose?

Purpose is something set up as an object or end to be attained. Occasionally purpose is referred to as someone’s personal mission statement. In setting your purpose, or mission statement, first create an imaginary ideal life you would like to live, in every respect. Your ideal life should be based upon who you are and where you are going in life. Let yourself dream big dreams. Let your mind float freely into the future.

Wants Or Needs?

Human beings are motivated by needs and wants. A person's needs result from a lack of something desirable, such as food, car, clothes, or shelter. Wants are needs learned by the person. They are often seen as emotional or psychological and not practical. For example, people need transportation but want a car instead of a horse or a bicycle. Most people want a luxury car instead of an inexpensive used car or truck. Instead of watching the game on television, some want season tickets at the Cowboy’s Irving Stadium. Instead of a five-room house some want a twelve-room house on two acres of land. Instead of working until one’s 80, some want to retire at an earlier time in their life mainly because they have not made their job satisfying for themselves.

Make Your Purpose Based Upon Needs.

Remember, needs are logical while wants are emotional. Your needs only push you just so far. When your needs are satisfied, they will stop pushing you. If, however, your purpose is in terms of wants and desires, then your wants and desires will keep pushing you long after needs are satisfied and until your wants and desires are fulfilled.

Recently I was talking with a young man who long ago discovered the common denominator of success without realizing it. He had a definite purpose in life and it was definitely a sentimental or emotional purpose. He wanted his boy to go through college without having to work his way through as he had done. He wanted to avoid for his little girl the hardships, which his own sister had to face in her childhood. He wanted his wife and the mother of his children to enjoy the luxuries, comforts, and even necessities, which had been denied to his own mother. He was willing to form the habit of doing things he didn’t like to do in order to accomplish this purpose.

Not to discourage him, but rather to have him encourage me, I said to him, "Aren’t you going a little too far with this thing? There’s no logical reason why your son shouldn’t be willing and able to work his way through college just as his father did. Of course he’ll miss many of the things that you missed in your college life and he’ll probably have heartaches and disappointments. But if he’s any good, he’ll come through in the need just as you did. And there’s no logical reason why you should slave in order that your daughter may have things which your own sister wasn’t able to have, or in order that your wife can enjoy comforts and luxuries that she wasn’t used to before she married you."

He looked at me with a rather pitying look and said, "But Mr. Gray, there’s no inspiration in logic. There’s no courage in logic. There’s not even happiness in logic. There’s only satisfaction. The only place logic has in my life is in realization that the more I am willing to do for my wife and children, the more I shall be able to do for myself."

I imagine, after hearing that story, you won’t have to be told how to find your purpose or how to identify it or how to surrender to it. If it’s a big purpose, you will be big in its accomplishment. If it’s an unselfish purpose, you will be unselfish in accomplishing it. And if it’s an honest purpose, you will be honest and honorable of it.

But as long as you live, don’t forget that while you may succeed beyond your fondest hopes and your greatest expectations, it is impossible to succeed beyond the purpose for which you are sacrificing. Furthermore, your surrender will not be complete until you have formed the habit of doing the things that others don’t like to do.

The Secret for Overcoming Procrastination

Why do you procrastinate?

Why do you not do the very things you want to do?

Why do you have great dreams, but don’t take massive action to make them come true?

The answer lies in Newton's first law of physics: “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”

Let me explain:

Let's say you want something, whatever that ‘something’ is. Let's call it ‘success’ to keep it simple.

The bottom line is this: if you want success, and you want it more than anything else in the world, you will get it.

However, if you want to run away from your fears to a safe place, a place you feel secure, then you want the security MORE than you want the success. This is why you don’t achieve those great dreams.

The excuses or ‘reasons’ will ultimately sound like:

“I’m not smart enough”

“I don’t have the money”

“I don’t deserve more than I already have.”

“I don’t have enough education”

“I don’t have the qualifications to do this”

All of these excuses are what keep us from our dreams. The way to discover what we are hiding from ourselves is to learn to ask the right questions.

We KNOW all the answers. The problem is that we don’t ask the right questions. Here are two questions you can use in almost any quandary:

"What is the BENEFIT of me not realizing my dreams?" "What am I getting out of it?"

Trust me, you ARE getting a benefit or a PAYOFF for not realizing your dreams. You must discover what it is in order to eliminate it.

One of the hidden benefits or payoffs is not having to leave our comfort zone. Even if we are unhappy where we are, we have convinced ourselves that going after what we want is more difficult and more painful and staying where we are. We may be miserable, but at least we are comfortable.

The second question is: "What am I afraid will happen if I ...................... (fill in the blank with the dream)

This encompasses the changes in lifestyle we will have to make in order to achieve our dreams. Also, what others will think.

In order to have the success you want and deserve, you must answer and resolve these two simple questions.

Okay, so what do you do?

First, turn off the phone, TV, stereo, and all other distractions. Then get a pen and paper and write at the top of the page:

"The benefits of NOT realizing my dream are:"

List a minimum of 20. If you can’t ‘think’ of any, then just ‘guess’ and write them down. About the time you reach 10-15, you subconscious mind will take over. Write anything that comes to mind, no matter how trivial or insignificant.

Just allow your mind to wander and go where it takes you. Get as specific as possible.

Very few get past this point before they have some very interesting answers come up.

Now ask yourself how your fear or procrastination has served you thus far. Realize the fear is there for a specific purpose. Find the purpose and ask yourself if it still serves you to have this fear. Perhaps it is time to let go of your fear and stop procrastinating once and for all.

When you have lost the need for the fear, you will just naturally let it go (if you are ready to do so).

And when you let it go, you will be free to move toward the thing you say you want----and you'll do it with ease and joy.

Are you ready to stop procrastinating or are you going to put if off a little longer? The choice is yours.

In life you can only have two things - Reasons or Results – and Reasons don’t count! You either have what you want, or you have ‘reasons’ why you don’t have it.

Procrastination is a disease. The cure is convincing yourself that it no longer serves you.

    Get Into The Buzz

    Increasing Self-Confidence and Problem Solving


    Oddly enough, for many, there is rarely a day that goes by where we procrastinate making a decision because we experience a lack of self-confidence or feelings of self-doubt.

    The standards set, while growing up into adulthood, had most of us depending on others – parents, teachers, and relatives – for direction and guidance that set up our self-image and levels of confidence. Unfortunately, during that period of time, we experienced more no’s than yes’s. As a result we either rebelled or we succumb to the expectations of others – looking to them for approval -- embedding in us expectation levels of perfectionism and shaping our self-image.

    As adults, to function in a competitive world, requires that we be less dependent of looking to others for approval. The drive to win approval, through perfection, sets in motion negative procrastination and a stressful existence. When we drop the notion that we must live up to others expectation of being perfect, we then begin to build our enter strength of self-confidence.

    When we overcome the lack of self-confidence and feelings of self-doubt, then problem solving and decision making, becomes second nature to us. True self-confidence comes about by understanding our abilities, strengths and having the willingness to change what we choose. “Change” is a word that runs the gambit of drudging up feelings from anger, bitterness, hopelessness and pain to happiness, relief and pleasure.

    However, bringing everything into consideration, you and me and everyone else on this planet is in the problem solving business – and to be effective in delivering problem solving solutions we need, a well developed, self-confidence. Therefore let me say that living in an economy based on innovation -- an economy in which you can win big simply by outthinking the competition -- self-confidence and decision making is paramount to success.

    Now, let me give you an exemplary example of someone who embodies such characteristic traits of self-confidence and problem solving.

    Fifth, for your success you must have a desire to change, which comes from within you and should have little influence by what others want from or expect from you.

    Thinking the Pain Away


    The American Association for the Advancement of Science has released the following news article:

    "Thinking the Pain Away;
    Patients can use imaging technology to control pain centers in the brain" By Ingrid Wickelgren

    Researchers have developed a potentially powerful new tool that allows patients to fight pain by literally thinking it away. Volunteers put inside a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) machine were able to control the activity of a brain region responsible for pain perception, suggesting that the technology may someday provide a drug- and side-effect-free way no calm troubled nerves.

    People have been using a technique called biofeedback for decades to control automatic body functions such as heart rate and muscle tone. By focusing on their pulse rate on a monitor, for example, people can actually lower it, in an attempt to relax. People have also learned to modulate their own brain waves, say, to move computer cursors. Christopher deCharms, the chief executive of Omneuron, a Menlo Park, California-based company developing clinical applications for functional brain imaging, wondered whether people could learn to dial up or down activity in a particular brain region to produce a therapeutic effect.

    To find out, deCharms teamed up with pain specialist Sean Mackey and his colleagues at Stanford University. The researchers placed eight healthy volunteers one at a time in an fMRI machine, which maps the brain by region, and had them hold a very hot metal cube. A virtual reality display inside the machine depicted a flame whose intensity reflected the activity of their rostral anterior cingulate cortex (rACC), an arc-shaped brain region that previous studies had implicated strongly in pain perception.

    Using the fiery feedback, the subjects learned to raise or lower the activity of the rACC by alternatively focusing on or away from the pain, or thinking of the heat as neutral or frightening. The better they controlled their rACC activity, the better they controlled the self-reported intensity of their pain. By contrast, volunteers who were asked to change their rACC activity without fMRI feedback, or with sham feedback from another brain region or from another volunteer's rACC, could not effectively do so, and also failed to control their pain, the researchers report online this week in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. "We feel this is very strong evidence that the real-time fMRI information was necessary for this
    effect," deCharms says. The team also saw improvement with eight chronic pain patients who were taught to control activation of their rACC.

    "It's a really interesting and potentially important finding," says Robert Dowman, a pain researcher at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. This gives us another possible modality for [chronic pain] therapy that doesn't involve drugs." But don't expect a home version any time soon. Dowman notes that the $2 million price tag of fMRI machines will likely limit the method's practicality for the foreseeable future.

    How To Develop Higher Levels of Emotional Effectiveness For Personal & Business Success!


    Everyday, people dismiss the role that emotions play in the cold hard reality of today’s business as well as in our personal lives. People’s excuses for acting irrationally come from focusing too much on feelings. Let’s be honest – the coldest, hardest truth is that, like it or not, emotions play a major role in every area of our lives and wishing it wasn’t so accomplishes nothing.

    Emotional Effectiveness is what keeps you in balance for achieving, manifesting and reaching higher levels of performance in all areas of life.

    Often you hear people refer to highly successful people as having emotional intelligence. A term used by many leading researchers to describe a form of social intelligence that involves the ability to monitor feelings and emotions of yourself and others and to use this information to guide your thinking and actions. Extensive research validates that those who exhibit a high degree of emotional intelligence tend to be more fulfilled and productive.

    So not to confuse emotional intelligence with cognitive intelligence (IQ); emotional intelligence is essentially non-cognitive enabling a person to create positive outcomes in relationships with others; whereas cognitive intelligence has traditionally been known as a key indicator and predictor of success. However, it is not, by itself, a good predictor – there are many examples of individuals who are exceptionally gifted, yet are remarkably ineffective and unproductive.

    Many people would be the wiser to assess their emotional effectiveness before moving forward with the time and investment of opening a business. For example: Ones keen mechanical knowledge of computers isn’t enough to guarantee a successful business if in fact that businessperson has low ego drive and low empathy. Far too many businesses fail and the blame more often is associated with the times, lack of working capital, low product demand, wrong location, etc. etc. – However, after studying many businesses we can find the failure of a business in the emotional effectiveness of the business owner. The same holds true for people in sales and management.

    Emotional Effectiveness – referring to specific behaviors, habits and attitudes is something you can develop for enhancing and significantly improving your capacity for success.

    Steps for you to develop higher levels of personal and business success are divided into two categories with six sub-categories each.

    Categories are Personal Competencies and Social Competencies.

    Under Personal Competencies the six sub-categories are:

    1. Self-Awareness: Individuals who exhibit a high degree of emotional effectiveness have a clear, conscious understanding of what is most important to them in life. This awareness continually guides them, especially in difficult of trying circumstances.
    2. Confidence & Self-Esteem: Confidence and self-esteem give us the self-assurance when we need to forge ahead to step up as leader, to take the emotional “risk” necessary for significant achievement.
    3. Self-Control: Individuals with a high degree of emotional self-control effectively manage their impulsive feelings and distressing emotions. They stay composed, positive, and think clearly even under difficult or challenging circumstances.
    4. Authenticity: You can build trust through your own conscientiousness, owning up to your mistakes and confronting unethical actions in others. Take trough, principled stands when necessary, even if those stands are unpopular.
    5. Optimism & Resilience: Optimism isn’t inherently better or worse than pessimism, but the actions that spring form optimism tend to produce greater results.
    6. Self-Actualization: Self-actualized individuals become involved in pursuits that lead to meaningful, rich and full lives. They make enthusiastic commitments to their long-term goals in an ongoing, dynamic process of striving toward the maximum development of their abilities and talents. Self-actualization is often referred to as the state of being that one can achieve after other basic needs in life have been met.

    Under Social Competencies the six sub-categories are:

    1. Empathy: Developing genuine empathy with others is a hallmark of emotionally effective individuals. This rather, you should seek to understand their feelings.
    2. Spirit of Service: A spirit of service is what causes people to go above and beyond the call of duty and give something of himself or herself beyond just doing a job or fulfilling an obligation. People who possess a spirit of service consciously decide to choose service over self-interest.
    3. Social Awareness: Having a high level of social/political awareness means having the ability to read a group’s emotional currents and power relationship, to “de-code” the informal communication and interpersonal relationships that may not be obvious unless you are paying attention.
    4. Interpersonal Influence: Having a high level of influence with other people is a key skill that significantly enhances your emotional effectiveness. Firs, because this ability helps you help others. Secondly it gives you a greater sense of control over your own environment and destiny.
    5. Communication: The ability to communicate effectively in writing, one-on-one conversations and group presentations, strongly distinguishes star performers from average or below average ones. A lack of communication skills not only has negative effect on the individual, but also tends to have a destructive effective on those who work most closely with him or her.
    6. Cooperation: One of the keys to achieving greater productivity is through collaboration and cooperation to cultivate and maintain extensive informal networks. Proactively seek out professional and personal relationships that are mutually beneficial. Go out of your way to build rapport with others, keep them "in the loop,” and show genuine interest in helping them achieve their objectives.

    Assuming you do want to change and willing to do the hard work necessary, the good news is that improving your level of emotional effectiveness is very doable. These are not traits that are “hard wired” into your nervous system. With consistent effort, you CAN become much more emotionally effective

    Unlocking the Myth of Hypnotic Communication


    Unquestionably when the word hypnosis pops-up in a conversation or in the mainstream press, nostrils flair, minds conjure up strong reactions of parlor tricks and pictures of late night scary movies where starry-eyed maidens are seduced to carry out satanic acts. Here we are, in modern times, where we have set foot on the moon, (ops – better watch my words – there are people who still think the earth is flat) broke the sound barrier, communicate wireless with the most modern technology and still people see hypnosis has a hoax. Even the well educated are not off the hook from such lack of knowledge and ignorant responses.

    Altered states and trance experiences have been around long before the word hypnosis. What is unique about hypnotic communications is that it's truly magical and at the same time clearly explainable and understandable.

    Regardless, of the mystique surrounding hypnotic communication, there is no hocus-pocus involved, and the only tool you will need is your MIND. Sound too easy?

    Follow along and prepare yourself to be amazed - both by the power of your mind to shape who you can become, and by the power you have to guide it.

    First, Lets' remove a couple of old misconceptions that you're supposed to talk in a monotone when you do hypnosis and that you are under control of someone's power.

    A more accurate way to channel the thought that others can control us would be to restate that hypnosis is powerful communication to influence others as well as the self.

    That is clearly evident in advertising communications – persuasive salespeople, politicians, religious leaders, and business leaders just to name a few. The hypnotist may take you into an altered state by using a monotone voice for getting a particular outcome or result. Similarly, a more animated approach, just like a glib politician, can wow you into the same altered state through their mesmerizing performance.

    And, as for the self – we are masters at entering altered states many times a day – programming with hypnotic communications for what we can’t do rather than what we can do. (Just listen and catch yourself every time you say "I can't", "No", or "That was Stupid")

    Parents are excellent at using hypnotic communications for getting an unwanted response from a child – Don't spill your milk! – Turn your back and the next thing you hear is the child's glass of milk falling on the floor.

You and the child are stuck with trying to understand what was just said. Unsuspectingly, an unwanted behavior occurs in the child -- spilling the milk -- and you, the reader, somehow wanting to understand what "don't want you to worry" means, will momentarily fall into an altered state conjuring up in your mind all kinds of possibilities.

    Hypnotic communications is a very natural process that we all do all the time -- some have just learned to do it more eloquently for positive outcomes and others sabotage themselves. It's a skill that you can develop to be a very powerful communicator for changing yourself and influencing others.

    The challenge that people have is they don't recognize, understand or notice the natural flow of hypnotic communication. And, therefore is very transparent and goes undetected by the incomprehensible person.

    Here is an everyday example: Put yourself in this scene – you're driving down a freeway or highway and surprisingly you pass an intended off-ramp or street that you were going to exit onto. For a split second you may have been startled upon discovering that you passed the exit and said something like – "dam" or "stupid me" how did I miss that?

    Unknowingly you were experiencing hypnotic communications with yourself – an altered state of consciousness - focused in a hyper state of awareness in your subconscious mind on something other than paying attention to your driving – daydreaming as some would describe it.

    Watch out for the pink elephant behind you. – Got you! – for a split second did you visualize a pink elephant? Now I can just hear the skeptics saying, this hypnosis stuff doesn't work. Clearly it works! And, it has programmed you into the person you are today.

    Habits of behavior are learned through hypnotic communications and work specifically for changing any unwanted behaviors in life. You can learn to eliminate habits of behavior that would enable you to stop smoking, eliminate weight, overcome fears, and to create new habits of behavior for greater success in life.

    The mind is much more malleable than we thought and marketers are learning to understand and capitalize on what influences consumers unconscious minds as much as their conscious minds do.

    Learning hypnotic communications through self-hypnosis will clearly help guard your mind against self-sabotaging acts and bring strength and awareness of external influence. And, you will experience harmonious balance and control in your life.
